Biography:

Chip Doherty practices in the firm’s Employment Law, Schools, Colleges and Universities and Government Strategies Practice Groups. Much of his practice is focused on representation of management in labor and employment law issues, including all aspects of management-union relationships and employment law counseling. Mr. Doherty has served as labor counsel for many large local businesses and organizations, including hospitals, colleges, manufacturers and service providers. He also provides general employment law counseling in both union and non-union settings. Other aspects of Mr. Doherty’s practice cover a broad range of legal issues, including corporate and commercial real estate transactions, and administrative and local government matters.

Mr. Doherty is a 1967 cum laude graduate of Amherst College, and received his law degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army, Intelligence Branch, from 1968 to 1971. He has been with the firm since 1973.

Mr. Doherty represents a number of substantial not-for-profit organizations and entities and is also involved as a volunteer with several of those and other community organizations. He is a member of the American, Massachusetts and Hampden County Bar Associations, and of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
