Biography:

Mike Burke is a member of the firm’s Litigation/ADR Department, and is Coordinator of its Professional Malpractice Practice Group. He also works with the firm’s Health Law Practice Group. He is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. His practice consists primarily of complicated civil litigation, with emphasis on professional malpractice and product liability defense. He has handled malpractice cases at all trial and appellate levels in Massachusetts, and also has litigated malpractice matters in Vermont. Among the issues which Mr. Burke has successfully tried are failure to timely diagnose cancer leading to death and negligent management of labor and delivery causing severe neurological damage to a newborn. He currently is defense counsel to several companies, including the Medical Professional Mutual Insurance Company, Baystate Health Insurance Company, Ltd. (the insurer for Baystate Health, Inc.), Connecticut Medical Insurance Company, Kaiser Permanente, Atlantic Risk Management, Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company, Holyoke Medical Center, Smith & Wesson and St. Paul Travelers.

Mr. Burke has been named a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer” by Boston Magazine, and for many years has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who in America, and Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys.

Mr. Burke is a 1974 magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Associate Editor of the Tax Lawyer, in 1977. He is a life member of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, and various bar associations.
