Biography:

Phil Tarpey is Counsel to the firm, providing advice, assistance and mentoring to fellow members of its Litigation/ADR Department. He has over 35 years of experience as a litigator, concentrating in insurance defense, medical malpractice and products liability suits. He has successfully tried countless cases, and also has tremendous and varied experience in the areas of negotiation, arbitration, mediation, and other alternative forms of dispute resolution. Mr. Tarpey has himself served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Tarpey graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1955. He played professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs organization and worked as an insurance claims adjuster before attending Western New England College School of Law, from which he graduated cum laude in 1962. He joined Bulkley, Richardson and Gelinas in 1964.

Mr. Tarpey has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Hampden County Bar Association and as a faculty member on Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education programs. He has served on the Board of Governors of Springfield Country Club, and has been actively involved in a number of non-profit agencies in the Springfield area.
