Bio

Dan Sacco is a member of the litigation department, where he works with clients on preparing for administrative proceedings and trials. Dan has many years of experience helping private and public companies and educational institutions address regulatory compliance-related issues, including both responding to alleged compliance violations and developing compliance policies and programs.

Immediately before joining Bulkley Richardson, Dan was the Sr. Associate Director of University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Office of Research Compliance, where he was responsible for implementing and enhancing UMass Amherst’s export control compliance program and responding to related issues, such as agency investigations into potential foreign influence in government-sponsored research. Dan also addressed many other compliance and contracting issues faced by research institutions receiving funding from federal, state, and industry sources.

Before joining UMass Amherst’s Office of Research Compliance in 2016, Dan worked at two Minneapolis law firms, where he represented clients in proceedings adverse to government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, Consumer Product Safety Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and state departments of health, transportation, labor, and occupational health and safety. Dan also represented private and public companies and educational institutions in litigation involving product liability, contract, school law, and insurance recovery claims.
