Gene Pilman focuses his practice in the areas of real estate, business, administrative law and finance. His experience gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of the business and real estate markets.

Gene has extensive experience representing domestic and foreign, institutional, private equity, lender, developer and landlord clients in pursuing real estate acquisitions, new development, joint ventures, financing, construction agreements, and leasing transactions as part of a broad-based transactional practice that spans the entire life of a development from site selection due diligence to acquisition, development and occupancy.

Additionally, Gene has extensive experience in land use and zoning law and advises clients on as-of-right property development potential, available discretionary entitlements, as well as environmental, political and regulatory issues that impact the use and development of real property. Gene has worked with teams of developers, architects and environmental consultants in securing variances, rezonings, special permits, certifications and authorizations.

Gene also represents clients in administrative law matters and license applications before city, county and state agencies and administrative tribunals and works with the litigation team on complex pleadings and motions with a focus on agency determination appeals and private disputes related to real estate.

Prior to joining Bulkley Richardson, Gene started his legal career in New York City.
